Gymnastics After watching the U.S Women's Gymnastics team compete at the 2012 Summer Olympics and chanting, "Go Gaby, go Aly!" while jumping on my sofa, my parents enrolled me into gymnastics at age three. I quickly fell in love with the sport, started competing at 7, and moved to North Stars Gymnastics Academy, where I was invited to join its homeschool training program at age 9.
Today, I am 16 and going into my fifth year as a Level 10 and rising senior. This year, I won the Region 7 Regional Floor Champion title in Virginia Beach, Va. and took 15th on beam at DP Nationals.
Future plan My dream is to compete for an NCAA Women's Gymnastics team. I occassionally work with a registered dietian and regularly with a sports performance/mental health coach and national gymnastics advisor. I also have weekly injury prevention/private strength training sessions outside the gym.
Education I take online classes year-round to accommodate my 26-hour a week training, five days a week. Math is my favorite subject and I work hard to maintain a straight-A overall average in my core subjects. Currently, I have a 3.9 GPA.
On the personal side I am the oldest of three girls. During my down time, I enjoy the beach, hanging out with my family and friends, watching action movies, swimming, traveling, baking, making homemade pizza, going to concerts and listening to music.
My family is richly diverse. My maternal grandparents are from Italy, my late paternal grandmother was from South Korea, and my grandfather is a U.S. Air Force military veteran with German and Irish roots. I have a big family with 14 aunts and uncles, 18 first cousins, three second cousins and dozens of others in our extended group. We are close and I have fun spending time with them.

Ashley Umberger inspires me to be the best gymnast I could be. She is a former elite gymnast, two-time U.S. Women's Gymnastics National Team member (Ashley Miller) and Georgia GymDog.
